Autism Information

Autism affects various parts of the brain and it is not understood how this occurs. Early in a child's life (the first year or two) parents will begin to notice signs of a development disorder. If intervention is started early enough it may help children gain some social skills and self-care. It is estimated that up to 0.6% of children have autism. Of those 0.6% there are three to four times more boys than girls.

Treatment for Autism has increased greatly but there is still no cure for Autism.

• Autism Signs & Symptoms: Normally children with autism will have difficulties in three areas of development: behavior, language, and social skills. The most severe cases of autism in children are a complete inability to socially interact or communicate with others.
